Argentine Film Screening: Un tango más

—— The first cultural activity of Fudan-Latin America University Consortium(FLAUC)

On 22 December, Fudan Development Institute initiated the first cultural activity of Fudan-Latin America University Consortium(FLAUC). The screening of the Argentine film Un tango más was held at Conference Room 106 of Think Tank Building, Fudan University. The Consul of the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic in Shanghai, the teachers and students from the Department of Spanish Language and Literature of Fudan University, the members of Fudan Film Association and other students interested in the Seventh Art participated in the activity.

Before the screening, Mr. Consul Javier Alfredo De Cicco briefly introduced the cultural background to the audience. He brought a set of Complete Works of Jorge Luis Borges, books about the history and revolution of tango, and an “Argentine panda” to Fudan Development Institute as gifts.

The film is a story of love between the two most famous dancers in tango’s history: María Nieves Rego and Juan Carlos Copes. They loved and hated each other, and went through several painful separations. Their story is told by tango and their own words, which reflect the different perspectives of man and woman when they are in love. The beautifully-shot choreographies make the film an unforgettable journey into the heart of tango.

Mr. Consul answered questions about the film after the screening, and also complemented more detailed information about the history and status quo of tango.
